They understand each other like no one else. But an argument last summer destroyed everything. Now Sal struggles alone to keep the family motel running while his ailing mother Misbah gets sicker and sicker and his father drowns his sorrows in alcohol. Noor, meanwhile, works in her strict uncle’s liquor store while trying to secretly apply for college so she can say goodbye to her uncle and this place forever. As Sal’s attempts to save the motel spiral out of control, he and Noor must ask themselves what friendship is worth and what it will take to defeat the monsters of the past – and those in their midst.
